Travelling 20-25kms per day and riding hardy Icelandic horses (although obviously not all at the same time) I will be attempting the BHS Viking Challenge at the end of August 2005.

The challenge will take a group of intrepid volunteers across the stunning(or so I'm told)lanscapes of Iceland, herding groups of Icelandic horses across challenging terrain, most likely in the cold, and with a fair chance of the odd blister.

Apart from the sheer excitement of the event, the main idea of the expediton is to raise money for the British Horse Society, the UK's most successful and influential equestrian charity.

My challenge therefore is to raise 1800 pounds at the bare minimum by next June ... otherwise .... there'll be no fording glacial rivers, climbing mountainous trails or possible hypothermia (from falling down the mountainous trail, into the glacial river) for me!

As yet I am unsure what exactly I will be doing to raise the money ... except for working as hard as I can in my as yet non existant job (I'm also an undergraduate archaeology student so have a possible dig in South Dakota to save up for as well!).

So if anyone who reads this fancies donating any small sum of money to the BHS - then please contact me via email (or guestbook post, and I'll get back to you) to find out a bit more.

www.bhs.org.uk is the official website of the British Horse Society to learn more about the work they do .... I'm sure I'll add more details to this site myself later.
